  • Thyroid medication interaction — selenium affects thyroid hormone metabolism. If you take levothyroxine or have diagnosed thyroid disease, discuss with your endocrinologist before starting.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: discuss with your GP or midwife before use — 200µg/day is above the NHS pregnancy guideline of 60µg.

Selenium

Selenium is an essential trace mineral the body uses to build the 25 known selenoproteins — including enzymes that protect cells from oxidative stress, recycle thyroid hormone, and support immune function. UK NHS reference intakes are 75 µg/day for men and 60 µg/day for women.
